Our limited edition SUNBREAKER storage bench reflects upon the perception of value under the influence of contemporary culture. It elevates foundational infrastructure into an object of aesthetic contemplation, showcasing how what is essential can also be coveted. This series invites a deeper appreciation for the everyday, transforming the functional into the remarkable while subtly encouraging us to observe and value the beauty in the structures that support our daily lives.
A continuous grid of profiled cast bronze acts as a drawer pull opening to two, spacious dovetailed walnut drawers. The curved steel case is precisely fabricated from laser-cut, rolled and welded parts before it is machined, hand-painted and buffed to produce a colorful, smooth surface with a high amount of variation.
Bronze castings for this one-of-a-kind work are produced by the expert team at West Supply in Chicago, IL. Begun in winter 2020 and completed in summer 2022.
