Contemporary Design
Inspired by a sense of nostalgia, Italian designer Antonio Aricò has designed Little Stool. Alluding to memories of traditional furniture pieces he saw growing up, Aricò designed this simple stool in pinewood with eye-catching, layered legs that offer stability and strength. The Little Stool was made in the south of Italy in a small, traditional atelier with Aricò’s nonno (grandfather), Saverio Zaminga, a retired carpenter still in love with wood and shapes. The 2013 design was made in collaboration with Tempo Italiano, a Nordic festival that celebrates Italian design and creativity, and the Italian Embassy in Sweden. In 2014 this piece went on to be displayed at the VII Triennale Design Museum in Milan in an exhibition called Italian Design Beyond the Crisis Autarky, Austerity, Autonomy.
