\n Design-quality illustration of a Philco Ford Television set by Edward T. Liljenwall (American, 1943-2010). The TV is expertly rendered against an olive green gradient background, with smooth shading and specific details. Highlights are added in gouache, creating a realistic looking reflection. This particular prototype design was ultimately rejected in favor of a design with rotary knobs instead of buttons.<\/p>\n

Edward T. Liljenwall (American, 1943-2010) attended Pasadena City College and later graduated from the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles in 1967 with a BS in industrial design. He worked as an automotive designer before joining the Hewlitt-Packard design team and was largely responsible for designing the HP-35 Pocket Calculator, the first one of its kind. Liljenwall was awarded several patents for his design work while employed with HP.
