Exceptional Contemporary Design
This one-of-a-kind daybed was designed by Tina Roeder for the exhibition Master Pieces at Droog Design Amsterdam in 2004. Thereafter it was exhibited at the Design Academy Eindhoven during Salone del Mobile in Milan and in the Museum Marta Herford’s exhibition Nullpunkt in Germany in 2009. “We’re visually anaesthesized, everything has already been digitally pre-experienced for us before we even get to experience it ourselves.” Tina Roeder endeavors to make people look at objects with a fresh perspective. Naked Couch, her stripped-down version of a doctor’s examining table, is made of nothing but a steel frame and nude-colored leather belts – with references to Freud’s psychoanalytic couch and to classic modernist day beds by the likes of Eileen Gray and Le Corbusier. Visual Anaesthesia, a Naked Couch with hidden details. This one-of-a-kind piece from 2004 is made from chrome-plated steel, an assortment of individually found belt buckles, and tan leather.
