Mid-century landscape painting by New York artist Richard Clive, entitled “Sunny Sunday”. This oil on canvas landscape painting depicts the dappled afternoon light of a forest clearing in wonderfully creamy, rich tones. The piece is thoughtful, meandering and optimistic.
Clive was the president of the Salmagundi Club in the late 1970s, and his popular landscapes and nude portraits are indicative of the artistic leanings of that famously influential institution.
