Original oil painting was created for The Saturday Evening Post’s June 4, 1927, cover. Rockwell (b. 1894–1978) had a 47 year career with The Post that began in 1916, making this cover a relatively early one. Lithograph was made in the mid 1970s and is a less commonly reproduced work, especially as a signed artist’s proof edition of this Size.
Utterly charming scene depicts a smitten young artist—possibly Rockwell himself—mid-brush stroke as he paints a bright red heart under the declaration “She’s My Baby” on the back of his crush’s oversized duster. A very faithful and finely executed reproduction of the original, with rich coloration and crisp details.
Signed in pencil by the artist at lower right, and numbered 169/200 at lower left. Atelier Ettinger. Arches 100% acid free paper with custom two-color mat and naturally distressed frame.
