Bailey & Company, a forerunner to the famed silversmiths, Bailey, Banks & Biddle, operated in Philadelphia from 1848-1878.
The heavy ladle shows a beautifully formed oval bowl with an unusual shape where it meets the handle. The handle shows hand engraved decoration. The terminal is engraved with the initial B in block form within an engraved shield.

Marked: Four marks including the maker, two lions, a shield and an S in an oval.
