American hooked rugs are indigenous to the Northeast region of the United States and Eastern Canada. Their production began in the mid-1800s, gradually spreading lower to North America. Hooked rugs were made from any scrap material available and burlap feed sacks were used for the foundation. This piece features a diamond shaped geometric pattern with various shades of red, green, blue and purple enclosed by a charcoal/gray border.
