Antique French Majolica Platter by Orchies, C. 1890’s

Vibrantly colored French majolica asparagus and artichoke platter made in the Orchies factory in the late 1800’s. The tray has a scalloped rim , a turquoise background with artichoke flowers and fall colored leaves. The depressed sauce wells on each end are artichokes. The center of the platter includes four purple tipped asparagus.

I purchased this in Southwest France, I can tell the set has been very well cared for. I also have matching dinner plates available.

The French earthenware Manufacture d’Orchies was created in 1879 by brothers Emile and Joseph L’Herminé Declercq in Orchies near the Belgian border with France.
