David Ebner American b. 1945 “TORII” end table ebony wood signed ‘DNE 84’ possibly the first Torii table made and purchased directly from the artist.
Contemporary American artist David N. Ebner’s “Torii End Table” is made of a rectangular two piece top with four gently flaring turned legs. The design was inspired by Japanese Tora gates and was first made in the early 1980s. It’s signed on the bottom with the artist’s initials, date made and a Chinese character for tree or forest. The character is composed of three components that mean peace, tranquility, and harmony.
