A “giclee” print on canvas of a full-length portrait of George Washington celebrating victory over the British at the Battle of Princeton in 1777 after a painting executed by Charles Peale (1741-1827) in 1779. The giclee is presented in a gilded and ebonised antique style wooden frame with an oval window. The giclee itself is rectangular.
There are two famous originals of this particular painting of George Washington even if Peale is known to have painted several of them. One is at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. The other hangs in the Paris Embassy in Paris. ( Room with the latter Painting is shown in Photo Gallery)
