Beautiful Cottagecore Style antique 19th Century custom framed pair of Pomological William Henry Prestele Jeffries Apple, Kelsey and Satsuma Peaches prints

William Henry Prestele was a German-American botanical artist known for his lithographs and watercolors commissioned by the United States Department of Agriculture. He was appointed as first artist on the staff of the then recently formed Pomological Division of the US Department of Agriculture in Washington DC on August 1, 1887 and went on to make naturalistically rendered, botanically accurate paintings, over a hundred of which are held in the National Agricultural Library’s Pomological Watercolor Collection.
The Jeffries Apple piece is dated 1888, printed by A. Hoen & Co. Lithocaustic, Baltimore, Plate 1. The Kelsey and Satsuma Peaches double print is dated 1887, printed by Giles Litho & Liberty, NY, Plate 1. Both pieces are signed W.H. Prestele fecit.
